CValdo provided hydrology and hydraulics design services for emergency replacement of the Crest Canyon storm drain system. The old 54-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe storm drain system spanned approximately 4,000 feet through Crest Canyon Park, draining to the San Dieguito Lagoon. The system had failed at multiple locations due to corrosion, resulting in massive sinkholes along the storm drain alignment. Due to the potential for harm to the public, this project was emergency fast-tracked through design and construction by the City of San Diego. CValdo, as a sub-consultant to Infrastructure Engineering Corporation, analyzed the existing system and provided design calculations and support services for a new replacement system and energy dissipater.
